Katie & Brandon 6.23.2007

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

This past Saturday, Matty and I hung out with 2 cool cats, Katie and Brandon. In addition to hanging out with them, we also shot their wedding. But it didn’t feel like work at all, everyone was so awesome and fun that we felt like guests instead of just the hard-working wedding professionals that we are!

We meet everyone at Northwestern College in Roseville with the wedding taking place in Nazareth Chapel, which is one good looking location to get married in. There is marble everywhere and beautiful old windows and archways. It makes for some rockin’ photos which I will now show you!

First, lets start of with Kat’s dress. It was HAWT. Totally old Hollywood.

And check these flowers, a whole bouquet of orchids, how different is that?!?!

Here is the happy soon-to-be-couple seeing each other for the first time.

The reception was at the newly remodeled Lake Elmo Inn Event Center, and boy does it look a heck of a lot better than it did in the past. They did a great job making the place look really classy.

Everyones favorite (but especially mine), CAKE. Isn’t this the cutest cake?

Kat and Brandon had quite the elaborate first dance, super fancy steps and twirls, and it was executed to perfection!

Have a great time in Hawaii, you two. Thanks for letting us be apart of your day!

Jen and Mike’s Engagement

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Ok, so I am a few days behind on blogging, I have been a busy little bee/photographer girl. But its been worth it, I have had a bunch of great shoots and meetings, and it is time to now show you the fruits of my labor.

A few days ago, I met up with Jen and Mike and the always-excited Buster the lab at Centennial Lakes Park in Edina to do their engagement shots. There was a threat of some nasty summer thunderstorms, but luck was on our side and we were able to hang out for a bit without getting rained on.

Here is the happy couple. Aren’t they super foxy?

Aww, isn’t Buster a cutie?? If you say “treat” he looks right at the camera!

More fun with Buster…

I just got back from Grandma’s Marathon and boy, are my legs tired

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

Dang….it has been quite toasty out there this past week. I thought that when some friends and I went up to Duluth for Grandma’s Marathon, we would get a break from the toastiness. I was wrong. We got up to Duluth kind of late on Friday, hauled ass to the DECC to take part in the spaghetti-carbo-load, then checked into the hotel. We stayed at the brand-spankin’ new Sheraton in DT Duluth, 4 of us in one room, it was quite cozy. But the best part was that even though we all knew we had to get up in a few hours to make the bus up to the starting line, we stayed up for a while giggling and being completely silly. It was pretty fun to act like 12 year olds at a sleepover.

I didn’t take very many photos because of the time crunch and my little camera did NOT go with my running ensemble, but here are our running shoes waiting for the long trek ahead.

And here is a pic of my Finisher Medal. It is so heavy, I feel like a champion!

We all ran the 1/2 marathon and with how humid it was up there, I didn’t think I could complete 2 miles let alone the whole 13.1. My sister beat us all with a sweet time of 2 hrs, Matty and I posted the crappiest time we have ever done at 2 hrs 44 mins, and My friend Crystal was just behind us.

It is such a trip to see all of the locals up there cheering everyone on. It makes the time go by so fast. My favorite spectators were 2 guys dressed up like a dancing cow and a penguin on a trampoline. Matty was a fan of the college guys who instead of handing out water to the runners, handed out cups of beer. I don’t know how healthy that is, but it definitely gave him a boost!

Anyways, we are home now, with some sore muscles but we all got snazzy new running T-shirts and the super cool medals.

Coolness!

Hey guys!

I just found out that my new wedding website was just accepted into the Wedding Photojournalist Association! I am so pumped!! They only accept certain types of people and I am lucky enough to be one of the few Minnesota wedding photographers!

Everyone listed on the MN site is so good and I constantly look at their websites and marvel over how wonderful they are. I really love Studio 306. You guys should check them out, because they are super funky.

Random Day in Duluth

Monday, June 11th, 2007

So, I didn’t have a wedding this weekend. It was kind of nice but, man, do I still have a TON of work to do. A bunch of albums to design, some portrait sessions coming up and loads of planning for upcoming weddings. Damn! But Matty and I (and of course the sweetest little dogs) made it up to Duluth for a night just to hang out as a family before coming home to get back in the groove.

It wasn’t anything fancy, and the weather was really crazy, beautiful and breezy one minute, then hail. Go figure. We managed to get the dogs to the beach in the midst of a severe thunderstorm warning for about 15 minutes. They had a grand old time. Matty and I were the only boneheads on the beach pimped out in our raincoats, while Spyder hunted seagulls and Murphy chased sticks. The next morning we brought them up to Enger Tower up on the hill where they enjoy running up the 10 flights of stairs to look out over the city and the lake. It was nice to get out of town for a day but I really think the dogs had way more fun than us.

Here are a few shots from my Canon P&S. You can tell the dogs would rather be chasing animals and smelling bushes than posing for some photos. What a bunch of brats!

This was in Hinckley on the way up north. Spyder found a baby bird hiding in these flowers but she didn’t eat it. What a humanitarian…

Carrie and JP…June.2.2007

Monday, June 4th, 2007

This past Saturday, Shelley and I got to hang out with some fun people, and shoot a wedding! Carrie is 911 dispatcher and JP is a police officer, we all definitely hit it off, all being in the big law enforcement family and all, and I was so happy to see Carrie and JP become one. (Another thing Carrie and I have in common, is a love for Cup N Cone in White Bear Lake. This place cleans the floor with DQ. If you go, get a Sunset Splash, they are de-lish!) They had crazy friends and families who also made the day a big success. The weather held off for a good portion of picture taking time, so that was good. Shelley and I met up with the bride and groom at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Roseville.

After Carrie and JP became Mr. & Mrs., we were all off to the Roseville Oval for the reception. The outdoor skating rink was a giant puddle, but inside, there were some tasty tidbits, fabulous toasts and some booty-shakin tunes that got everyone out of their chairs.

You know I love me some cake….
