Camera Day: Sunday, May 2nd, 2010Thursday, March 11th, 2010**please note the change in date to May 2nd**
I have been a professional photographer for 6+ years now and have learned a lot, made a TON of mistakes and had some really great successes. When I was first starting out, no one in the photography world would talk to me about starting a business. They were afraid I will take all of their secrets and steal their clients. Looking back, I still find it ridiculous how secretive everyone was. And I know how hard it is to get up and running, and find shortcuts and tips that will help you grow as a photographer and business owner. I do not claim to have all of the answers nor do I think of myself as a photographing smarty-pants. But I do receive many emails from photographers starting out who are looking for answers. And that is what this is about, giving the help that I had to fight for in the beginning of my career. “Camera Day” has been designed to help the budding photographer find their way in those beginning and middle stages. It’s full of information that I would have killed for 6 years ago. We will talk about inspiration and where to find it, why networking is SO important and how to get your dream clients. There will also be some shooting time, complete with hot models and a photo critique after the shoot. And all of your meals are also included. Lots of yummy stuff!!! I will show you how I do what I do. No secrets. No BS. Just bring your camera. The entire day, SUNDAY, MAY 2ND (9am-8pm), including meals is $400, a deposit of $200 holds your spot. Click here to sign up!! Want more info? Call or email Stephany @ EyeSpy. A happy Saturday.Saturday, March 6th, 2010My honey got me flowers today. No reason. Just ‘cuz. And he know when it comes to flowers, I like them crazy. No roses. No baby breath. No carnations. Weird stuff. Color. LOVE IT. Thanks, babe! And a special thanks to La Petite Fleur for coming up with some funky design. (psst, she does weddings too…)
posh|rebelMonday, February 22nd, 2010I have always been a crafty-type girl. When I was younger I was always painting, drawing, making funny t-shirts, sewing clothes, and making jewelry. And since I have had my own business and family, time became scarce and not much crafting was had. Fast forward to last year when I was putting a few shoots together and looking for some fun birdcage veils to finish off the look I was going for. Nothing. I couldn’t find anything that I thought was spunky enough or I couldn’t find anything at all. So I did a little research and decide to make my own. I was a crafty girl, why not? They turned out pretty slick and instead of throwing them away after I was done using them for shoots, I sold them. That got me thinking. And posh|rebel was born. My creative partner, Kelly and I spent TONS of time over the fall and winter planning, shopping and designing. Our goal was to have a website with hairpieces up and running by March. Even before the website was complete, we had custom orders coming in and have a bridal shop ready to carry some of our pieces. With that kind of response, I am feeling pretty good that there is a stylish hole in Minnesota that hopefully posh|rebel can fill. Kelly and I have so much fun getting together every week to cut, sew, and perfect our little creations. It’s a nice little break from sitting in front of a computer as much as I do, and now that Kelly bought me a thimble, I don’t stab my self nearly as much as I had been. We had a little photo shoot a couple of weeks ago to photograph the pieces. We were lucky to have 3 lovely models, some awesome bouquets, a little shooting inside (brrrrrr!) and a little shooting inside, and a whole bunch of birdcage veils, feathers and brooches. A huge shout-out and thank you to everyone involved!! Here are some shots from the shoot. The models were troopers, it wasn’t exactly warm the day we shot. But I think the outdoor snow shots were worth it!!
The full posh|rebel line is showcased on the website. Check it out and order yourself something fabulous. Veils & Hairpieces: posh|rebel {Meet EyeSpy}Tuesday, February 16th, 2010All new blog entries will appear below this video until my new site and blog is up and running. Whoo!
EyeSpy Weddings from ClamLakeFilms on Vimeo. Maison GalleriaFriday, January 29th, 2010Last spring, I was walking downtown Stillwater and saw a new store with really cute home decor stuff in the windows. I walked in, saw the cute chairs, art and accessories and had a little lightbulb over the head moment. I walked up to the girl who was working and asked to have the owner give me a call because I had a fun idea for some promo shots. A few days later, I get a call from Darcy, the owner and tell her my ideas. You would think she would have said, “Eh, I’ll think about it…” but nope! Darcy was all for some funky images of her shop and her wares. Summer came, I had some time in between weddings and “The Chairs” concept came to life! You really should have seen us, Darcy and I hauling chairs, vases and lamps thru open fields, forests, and alleys. It was quite the workout! But the shots I got with Darcy’s furniture styling were just what I had in mind. After we shot “The Chairs”, we headed inside and got some cool interiors of the shop and everything in it. Maison Galleria has been open for a while now and if you are looking for some great accessories for your home that aren’t mass-produced in Sweden, you should stop in and say hello to Darcy!
